Chamisa ally says MDC must go beyond legitimacy and deal with issues

One of Movement for Democratic Change leader Nelson Chamisa’s allies, Hopewell Chin’ono, today said the main opposition must go beyond illegitimacy and deal with issues.

Chin’ono, a journalist whose tweets are often retweeted by the MDC leader, said: “Ian Smith & the Rhodesian regime were illegitimate. However ZANU & ZAPU addressed the people’s grievances, issue by issue!

“The MDC must go beyond ILLEGITIMACY & deal with issues! Civil society must go beyond workshops in tourist attractions/per diems & educate the rural masses.”

The MDC has refused to talk to the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front arguing that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is illegitimate.

Their party leader Nelson Chamisa, they claim, won the 2018 presidential elections but was robbed by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

The Constitutional Court threw out the MDC case saying the party should have used primary evidence to prove its case.

When told by one of his followers that police would not allow that, Chin’ono responded: “You are always making excuses instead of thinking about ways to deal with impediments. Ian Smith also didn’t allow ZANU and ZAPU to go into communities, but they found ways and means. Are you suggesting that the opposition & civil society are made up of people who don’t think?”

Moris Sibanda said the problem was that there were too many lawyers in the MDC.

“Too many lawyers at the helm and they consider legality over anything else. There was need to balance with trade unionists. Organising Secretary is busy playing silly internal politics instead of building solid rural structures,” he tweeted.

Chamisa is a lawyer and so are his two deputies, Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube (with Ncube being a professor of law). The treasurer David Coltart is a lawyer and so are Douglas Mwonzora and Jacob Mafume to name a few.

Chirandu said the party had a huge mass communication deficit “and they have to understand that Twitter only represents just 5% of electorate and 0% of the crucial rural vote. The spirit for revolution and change hasn’t been awaken and the illegitimacy issue doesn’t resonate with the masses”.

Shumbazi said the MDC was heavily infiltrated by ZANU-PF and must cleanse itself.

“2020 MDC must cleanse itself of zanu pf  operatives amongst them ..then they should sit down with all other entities who are suffering under Zanu pf and draw a fool proof plan to rid of these incompetent thieving Ediots ..it only takes us coming together.”
