The chairman of the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe, Tafadzwa Musarara, today bought President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s neck tie for $15 000 at the 5th Edition of the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) Africa Roundtable in Victoria Falls.
The tie was auctioned to raise money for a local hospital in the resort town.
According to The Chronicle, Musarara said: “I am excited and overwhelmed. I will not sell it, why should I?”
Mnangagwa was later presented a “Donald Trump” tie, which the organisers said symbolized that Zimbabwe was open for business.
The paper said the CEOs were also asked to remove their ties which were put in a box, to show that they were “loosening up and willing to close the distance between businesses and government”.
