Irate Zimbabwean bus passengers travelling to South Africa showed how easy it can be to end corruption if people are united. They walloped two South African police officers who had got onto their bus and demanded R100 each to let them proceed. The incident is reported to have happened in Polokwane on Thursday. The officers are alleged to have boarded the bus and demanded passports from the passengers. They told the passengers that some of their passports were invalid and demanded that everyone on board pay R100 before they could resume their journey. “While they were busy collecting money, some of the passengers attacked the policemen and they took a belt, shirt and name tag of one of the policemen,” Colonel Ronel Otto of Limpopo police told The Times. The policemen fled. The bus driver drove to a local police station and reported the incident. The two policemen arrived at the station while the driver was making his report and they were arrested. They are due in court tomorrow.
