Bulawayo records two more coronavirus deaths as national toll rises to 210

Two more people from Bulawayo died of coronavirus today bringing to 41 the number of people that have died of the virus in the city so far.

The national tally now stands at 210.

Eight people have died of coronavirus this month and six of them are from Bulawayo.

There were 182 new cases and 82 recoveries today.

The total number of cases rose to 7 298 and that of recoveries to 5 455 leaving 1 633 active cases.

The number of active cases in Bulawayo, however, continues to decline and now stands at 76 while those in Harare have risen to 977.

Globally, the number of cases continues to increase with total number of cases now at 27.4 million. The number of deaths is up at 895 200, and so are the recoveries now at 19.5 million. Even the number of active cases has also risen to 7.1 million.

India, the second most populous country in the world after China, is now at number 2 with 4.3 million cases while the leader, the United States, has 6.5 million cases.

Mexico, which is currently at number 8, could soon overtake South Africa as it is just 4 000 cases behind.
