Botswana confirms $100 million private sector facility but not $500 million diamond deal

Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi has confirmed that his government has offered to guarantee a $100 million private credit line for Botswana companies to invest in Zimbabwe but dismissed reports that Botswana had also offered a $500 million diamond-backed loan.

He told international news agency Reuters that his government was waiting for a letter of guarantee from Zimbabwe for the $100 million facility.

Masisi was in Zimbabwe yesterday and his government signed several agreements with Zimbabwe.
