Blow for Chimene and G40 as Mutsvangwa is confirmed legitimate leader of war veterans

Sibanda is reported to have accepted the apology saying: “It’s now water under the bridge and I am happy my comrades decided to bury the hatchet and work against a common enemy trying to destroy the gains of our liberation struggle. I know I have been arrested for undermining the authority of the President — a matter which left me with legal expenses amounting to $12 000, but that won’t deter me from joining my fellow comrades. I am glad they have realised their mistake and took a humble decision to apologise.”

ZANU-PF is going for a special congress in December at which it says it wants to endorse Mugabe as its presidential candidate for next year’s elections but most people believe the party, especially the youths and G40 want to Mugabe to appoint Grace as one of his deputies and kick out Emmerson Mnangagwa who seems to have the support of the war veterans and the military.

G40 is said to be led by Saviour Kasukuwere and Jonathan Moyo but Joice Mujuru said the real leader is Mugabe.

The Young Turks are pushing for Grace because she will be an easy pushover once Mugabe is gone.

Party secretary administration Ignatius Chombo said the special congress was not meant to fire Mnangagwa or any other vice-president but critics query why the party called the special congress which will gobble $8 million as endorsing Mugabe could have been done at the regular annual conference as this is one of its mandates.

The party has not yet decided on the agenda of the congress as only items on the agenda can be discussed at a special congress and nothing else.
