Biti case thrown out

Harare magistrate Francis Mapfumo today threw out Movement for Democratic Change Alliance principal Tendai Biti’s case that he cannot stand trial for allegedly inciting violence and announcing elections result unofficially because he was unlawfully abducted from Zambia.

Mapfumo said Biti was handed to police by immigration officials so his arrest did not violate any of his rights.

Biti said he is going to appeal the ruling.

Biti was denied asylum in Zambia early this month and handed back to Zimbabwean authorities.
