Platinum production at Unki Mine in the third quarter to September 30 increased nine percent to 19 800 ounces compared to 18 200 ounces in the same period last year, largely on improved efficiencies at the mine.
In the previous quarter the Shurugwi based mine produced 19 500 ounces of platinum.
Parent company Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) said in its quarterly update that mining height control at Unki had improved output.
“Unki production increased by 9 percent to 19 800 ounces, as continued efforts in efficient mining height control have reduced waste, leading to increased grade and higher production,” Amplats said in a statement.
The group’s platinum production was flat at 621 400 ounces.
Unki mine is one of the country’s three platinum producers, along with Zimplats and Mimosa Mine. – The Source
