World platinum top producer Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) says production at its Zimbabwe unit near Shurugwi went up 2 percent to 18 900 ounces in the quarter to March compared to the same period last year.
Unki’s output on a quarterly basis, however, was down five percent from the 19 900 ounces in the previous quarter.
The company was putting efforts in efficient mining height control which reduced mining waste, leading to increased grade and higher production.
Unki is one of the country’s three platinum producers along with Zimplats and Mimosa Mine.
