All patients admitted in hospitals in Zimbabwe now being tested for coronavirus

All patients admitted in hospitals in Zimbabwe are now being tested for coronavirus as part of the country’s intensified surveillance and active case finding strategy that is being implemented nationally.

The Ministry of Health said this when it announced that the 32nd person to test positive for the virus was a 52-year-old man from Murehwa who had been admitted to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment of malaria but was positive for coronavirus when he was tested under the new approach.

Some 453 people were tested yesterday bringing the total to date of 7 287.

All those tested yesterday were negative but the results of 78 samples tested in Bulawayo were still pending.

Zimbabwe is under a national lockdown which will be reviewed on Sunday.
