Active coronavirus cases in Zimbabwe continue to drop

Zimbabwe yesterday recorded 27 new coronavirus cases but 36 people recovered and there were no deaths resulting in the number of active cases dropping to 1 482.

Mashonaland West had the highest number of recoveries at 15 and active cases dropped to 30.

All 12 people in Mashonaland Central recovered and the province has no active cases.

The number of active cases in Harare and Bulawayo, however, rose yesterday with Harare now at 1 122 and Bulawayo at 100.

Globally the number of cases has risen to 32.4 million and Argentina overtook South Africa to become number nine in the world.

Deaths have risen to 987 800 and could top one million over the weekend.

Some 23.9 million people have recovered but there are still 7.5 million active cases.
