Active coronavirus cases in Zimbabwe continue to drop as more people recover

The number of active coronavirus cases in Zimbabwe dropped to 6 719 today after the country recorded 321 new cases and 489 recoveries.

There were 15 deaths a drop from 18 yesterday. The total number of deaths is now 1 193 up from only 363 at the end of December.

Some 33 273 people have so far contracted the virus but 25 361 have recovered.

Harare still has the highest number of active cases but they are now down to 2 446. Manicaland has dropped to 840, Mashonaland West to 686 but Bulawayo rose to 457.

Acting President Constantino Chiwenga extended the current level 4 lockdown to 15 February saying one death was a death too many.
