5 key achievements by Mnangagwa in his own words

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa has outlined five key projects that he has implemented in the two years that he has been in office since winning his own mandate in August 2018.

Writing on his own twitter handle, Mnangagwa said he had vowed to serve Zimbabwe and its people and this was what he had done:

  1. The US$4.2 billion Great Dyke Platinum Mine is already under construction.

-Reintroduced the Zimbabwe Dollar, after 10 years of dollarization and relying on foreign currency.

  1. The US$4 billion Karo Resources Mhondoro-Ngezi platinum project is ahead of schedule

-Completed the Chiredzi-Tanganda Road, with the Makuti-Chirundu and Karoi-Binga roads currently under construction.

-Implemented a new school curriculum, so that every student is accommodated for.

  1. Compensation for former farm owners by US$3.5 billion, ending years of disputes

-Ranked third in Africa on budget transparency by the Open Budget Survey.

-1.8 million farmers trained for Pfumvudza.

  1. Subsidized agricultural inputs for vulnerable households

-RGM Airport expansion is currently under construction

-$18 billion stimulus package, to help regenerate our economy post-COVID19.

  1. Dam projects in Causeway, Gwayi-Shangani and Marovanyati currently under construction

Mnangagwa has been under pressure from civic groups and the opposition which accuse him of gross human rights violations and the suffering Zimbabweans are going through today under inflation of 837.5 percent and a currency that has been playing yoyo on the market and is officially down to $83.40.

Mnangagwa’s administration blames sanctions for its woes and admits that the country is facing challenges but insists that there is no crisis.
