40 more Zimbabweans recover from coronavirus as country goes for fifth day with a death

Zimbabwe had 22 new coronavirus cases and 40 recoveries today resulting in the number of active cases dropping to 1 551.

It had no death for the fifth day running with the total deaths to date remaining at 224.

Thirty-one of the people that recovered were from Mashonaland West which saw the number of active cases in the province drop to 53.

The country now has a total of 7 598 cases and 5 823 recoveries.

The bulk of the active cases are in Harare, Matebeleland South and Bulawayo which account for 1 390 cases.

Masvingo has no active cases while Mashonaland Central has six, Mashonaland East 10, and Matebeleland North 14.

The number of cases globally has now risen to 29.3 million. There are over 942 600 deaths. Some 21.7 million people have recovered but there are still 7.3 million active cases.

Deaths in the United States surpassed 200 000 today.
