Four Zimbabweans, two from Mashonaland East and one each from Bulawayo and Manicaland, died of coronavirus yesterday pushing the death toll for December to 53 and since the outbreak of the pandemic in March to 330.

There were 112 new cases with Masvingo recording the highest number at 43 followed by Bulawayo with 27, but Bulawayo had the highest number of recoveries at 51 followed by the Midlands with 30.

A total of 100 people recovered yesterday resulting in the number of active cases increasing to 2 067.

Harare has 485 active cases followed by Bulawayo with 456 and Matebeleland South with 351.

Only one of the new cases yesterday was imported.  Experts say there is a new strain of the virus which spreads faster than the previous one.
