3 die as Zimbabwe receives vaccines for 200 000 more people

Three Zimbabweans died of coronavirus today as the country received 400 000 vaccine doses from China, enough for 200 000 people, bringing the total from China to 600 000 doses.

China has so far donated 400 000 doses to Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe paid for the additional 200 000 doses delivered today and will receive more vaccines from India and Russia.

Today 1 890 people were vaccinated bringing the total to 39 500.

Zimbabwe has enough doses for 300 000 people and was supposed to vaccinate about 60 000 people by the end of February.

There were 31 new coronavirus cases today and 73 recoveries. This brought the number of cases to 36 535 and recoveries to 34 125.

Deaths now stand at 1 507. The number of active cases dropped to 904 with Harare dropping to 454, Manicaland to 106 while Bulawayo rose to 45 and Matebeleland North remained at 201.
