21-year-old Harare woman dies of coronavirus, 73 test positive

A 21-year-old woman from Harare died of coronavirus today while 73 tested positive raising the death toll in Zimbabwe to eight and the number of cases to 698.

According to the Ministry of Health the woman had no history of travel and had no other illnesses.

Among the 73 that were positive, 55 were returning from South Africa, three from Botswana, three from Mozambique, two from the United States, one from Australia and one from Zambia. Eight were local.

Five people recovered from the virus, four from the Midlands and one from Mashonaland East. So far 181 people have recovered.

More than 3 000 were tested today raising the number of people tested so far to 78 463.

There are now 509 active cases.

Globally, there are now 11.3 million cases which include 530 900 deaths, 6.4 million people that have recovered and 4.4 million active cases.

The United States, which has the highest number of cases, could clock three million cases this weekend.
