17 Zimbabweans win sponsorship in the Tony Elumelu entrepreneurship programme

Seventeen Zimbabwean entrepreneurs have been selected among a group of 1 000  young entrepreneurs who will benefit from the latest round of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme’s (TEEP) $100 million fund.

Nigerian billionaire, Tony Elumelu, one of Africa’s most successful entrepreneurs launched Africa’s largest philanthropic fund in 2015 to nurture a culture of entrepreneurship among the youth.

The initiative intends to discover and support 10 000 African entrepreneurs over the next decade, with a target of creating one million new jobs and $10 billion in additional revenues.

The Zimbabweans selected include Andrew Nyambiya, Anthony Mutanga, Charles Mutsinze, Faith Nyamupaka, Farirai Mageza, Jacob Shamuyarira, Kudzanai Chitiva, Linda Makaza and Lindani Maphosa. 

Their project proposals range from Power generation, Financial services , ICT to  Waste Management.

Others are Bongani Mutandabari, Mercy Chigunduru, Tatenda Makova, Rudo Nondo, Simba Murondoti, Taona Karonga, Tendai Garwe and Thelma Chandafira.

The winners will receive $5 000 non-returnable seed money after a 12-week business skills training course and an entrepreneurship ‘boot camp,’ and a further $5 000 structured as a loan.-The Source
