Something has been nagging me the whole day today after reading a story in The Herald which said that the Centre for Sexual Health, HIV and Aids Research (CeSHHAR) had registered 12 383 sex workers throughout the country between the ages of 12 and 60 years since 2009.
This should have raised an alarm with the reporter before she had even written he story because I thought having sex with a 12-year-old was rape regardless of whether she had agreed or not?
So why would an organisation register 12-year-olds as sex workers? Shouldn’t the organisation have referred them to another organisation that looks after children, like Save the Child, UNICEF or some other such organisation?
Maybe the law has changed. Lawyers, help out.
