100 more pupils at Sacred Heart High in Zimbabwe test positive for coronavirus

One hundred more pupils at Sacred Heart High School in Esigodini tested positive for coronavirus today but the Ministry of Health said the outbreak was localised at the school.

It is not clear how many pupils at the school have now been affected as there have also been reports that Umzingwane High School, also near Esigodini, has been affected as well.

Matebeleland South has had 237 new cases since Wednesday, up from only seven.

Today the Ministry of Health was specific that the 100 new cases were at Sacred Heart.

There was a total of 126 new cases today and only 31 recoveries. Active cases rose to 873 with 414 in Harare, 244 in Matebeleland South and 121 in Bulawayo.

Three people died today bringing the total to 1 538. Cases rose to 37 273 and recoveries to 34 862.

The number of people that have been vaccinated is now close to 200 000 with 15 699 getting their first dose today to bring the total to 193 936 and 829 getting their second. So far 28 797 have been fully vaccinated.
